This article aims to highlight some common issues a user could encounter, as well as the basics around creating or modifying splits on a document.
When a document is uploaded and not split, it must be split manually by a user. Sometimes this will lead to errors which are explained in greater detail below. To avoid these errors, our best recommendation is to make all changes in one request (unless it is a very large packet, something like several hundred pages) and allow the application to reprocess everything.
At a glance: |
I received the "Failed to Apply Changes" Error
Any time a user performs an action on a source document (rotate pages, delete pages, add split, etc.), Thomson Reuters Document Intelligence will then reprocess (re-analyze, re-classify, etc). that document so that it can be correctly populated within the application. The application should respond quickly, apply the changes and reprocess the document, which is reflected on the udpated source document.
In some cases, a user will make and apply changes, refresh the application to see if the changes look right and, because re-processing is still occuring, it will look like no changes have been made. The user may then try to repeat the changes already made, or attempt a subsequent action while the document is still processing and receive the FAILED TO APPLY CHANGES error. Any changes that are made while the document was still re-processing will not be applied.

I received the "Invalid Page Mainpulation Request" Error
This error may be encountered on the splitting view. It means that whatever request was made was denied.
For example, if two users are working in the same source document at the same time and they both try to make changes to the document, this error will result. When changes are applied from one user, there is in effect a new document, and any changes made to the original source document will not work because the document no longer exists in its original state.
The application must reprocess and apply the changes before any subsequent modifications can be made.

How can I tell what Processing State my document is in?
Turn on the processing status column in your Library View to view the processing state of your documents. If documents are in any state other than Complete, wait until the document has arrived at this state to make any changes.
For more information on Processing States, see this article - Processing Status Filters & Bulk Retry
A user can also search for the document by Document Name to see what Processing State is it currently in.
